Steve's interview with Kevin Ebi on KJR FM
Places to enjoy in our neighboorhood
- Majestic Bay Theater, gorgeous, locally owned
- La Tienda, fine wares from all over
- Souvenir, the store is a work of art. Don't forget it's a store!
- Nervous Nellie's Coffee real fine coffee not too far from the "schoolhouse"
- Ballard Market fine salad bar and deli, and don't get lost in the wines
- Clover
Favorite Eateries
- Rialto
- Unpretentious but wonderful italian cuisine in Fremont, with a welcoming staff. Owner/chef Rudy is a hoot, too.
- Brouwers
- Our favorite pub in Seattle. Great food (and not just for a pub!), and about 50 "biers on draught"
- Bastille Café & Bar
- Newly opened the end of June (2009). The neighborhood is aflutter!
- Santa Fe Cafe
- just up the hill from Luminous Works, rich satisfying cuisine inspired by the American Southwest. Do not try to sample all the tequilas in one evening.
- Mr Gyros
- Sammy and Joni prepare absolutely fabulous falafel and gyros for an astonishingly low price. Now coming to Ballard!!
- Apizza Scholls
- 3 hours drive, and we've gone there for dinner and back. Whenever we speak of going to Portland, we know where we're having dinner. The best pizza in North America—and Steve is from New Haven, notable for its pizza.!
- Thaiku
- Thai food near enough to the "schoolhouse" that we and our students are regulars. We're still not tired of it.
Creative Services (presented in no order whatsoever)
- Marianne McCoy
- A sharp eye and a big heart, and a creative sensibility that we worship.
- Evolution Press
- Pay them a visit and touch their wares! If you like print, you'll love their letterpress work! They made our cards.
- Jennifer Nerad
- If you've had an InDesign class here, you may already know our dear Jennifer. Check out her art—we love it!
- Christy Pelland
- Photography (especially wedding photography) with a unique vision by a warm and wonderful human.
- Studio 5 Creative
- A full service design, photography, and project management agency—and they're friends!
- Lou Cuevas
- Photographer and pal Lou is also the landlord to Luminous Works' classroom. A fine host, and excellent photographer, he is. Can't wait to see his web site, eh hem.
- Juan Alonso
- As I write this, I'm looking at two lovely pieces by this amazing artist and wonderful human. Maybe you should check out his work...
- Sharon Swanson
- Sharon does lovely illustration and design. Go ahead, take a look at this fine human's work.
- Adam Crowley
- Adam is a fun and fine guy—and great photographer. Of course he's available for hire and has a rich collection of images for purchase, too.
